| They wanted an arrangement that would not only
contribute to improved performance but also provide opportunities
for employees to grow and develop.
We designed a competency framework with them and helped them
improve their performance appraisal scheme. We trained all
Directors, Managers and employees in not only how to appraise
but also how to manage using a developmental style. We trained
employees in how to be appraised – the principle being
that appraisal is a two-way process.
The competencies closely mirrored the company’s values
and allowed employees to clearly see the contribution expected
and opportunities available. The scheme also provided some
management development activity allowing the managers to develop
a “Coaching” style.
A settled and highly productive workforce was the outcome
and at the time of writing, the company had made a very good
start on its results for the year.
